On September 30th, 1956, during a drunken argument in a New York City Bar, a man named Thomas Fitzpatrick claimed he could fly an airplane from New Jersey to New York in under 15 minutes. To prove himself, Fitzpatrick left the bar, stole an airplane from a New Jersey airfield at 3AM, flew without lights or radio completely intoxicated, and landed the airplane in the street in front of the bar. The owner of the plane was so impressed that he refused to press charges, and Fitzpatrick was only fined $1,000 for his stunt. Two years later, Fitzpatrick got into another drunken argument in which another bar patron refused to believe his wild story, so he did it again. This time finding himself in prison for 6 months.
This is an on going collection of odd information I pick up from the trimedia (news papers, TV and the net) which I want to share to the world. Oddities are something unusual -- perhaps worthy of collecting; an eccentricity that is not easily explained or perhaps a strange attitude or habit- anything that caught my attention browsing the news which are funny (at least to me) unusual, strange or thought provoking which I want to share…urbi-et-orbi.

Putin trumps propaganda...
While US President Trump cancelled his visit to a wartime cemetery in France due to rain, Russian President Putin stands in the rain with no umbrella to pay tribute to those who died...
Umbrellas are for kids. Real men pay homages to their fallen heroes.

Why China censors banned Winnie the Pooh!
Winnie the Pooh has joined a line of crazy, funny internet references to China's top leaders.
The Chinese name for and images of the plump, cute cartoon character are being blocked on social media sites here because bloggers have been comparing him to China's president Xi Jinping.
