South Korean pop star Psy is back with the follow-up to‘Gangnam Style’! He finally unveiled the hip-swinging dance and music video for his new song "Gentleman," aimed at replicating the global success of "Gangnam Style" and its famed horse-riding dance.
Built around a basic chorus, "Gentleman" is another foot-stomping, frenetic dance groove with a video which delivers more cheeky irreverence from the pop star.
The video shows Psy, wearing his signature sunglasses, dancing at various locations (high-end clothing store, restaurant, swimming pool, etc.) in and around the capital Seoul. The story line featured the "obnoxious" singer teasing and pulling off an array of rather juvenile practical jokes like pulling chairs away from women, preventing a man from going to the restroom, kicking a soccer ball away from kids, etc. Since release, the video is on its way to approaching 100 million views -- no surprise given "Gangnam Style" exceeding 1 billion views.
Below are 8 things you need to know about Psy's "Gentleman" video: (selected from latimes.com and berbicemarket.com)1. The song contains more English lyrics this time than "Gangnam Style"- a clear nod to the singer's new found global audience."Let me tell you about myself. I'm such a charmer with guts, vigour and humour," Psy sings in Korean before launching into the song's English catch-line: "I'm a mother-father gentleman." "Gonna make you sweat. Gonna make you wet. You know who I am? Wet Psy!" he sings in English, calling himself a "party mafia."
